The Royal Treatment

Later in the afternoon, Veronica took us to see all that is royal in Prague! The Prague Castle, the Prague Castle Cathedral, Lobkowicz Castle, and even a prince.

Trekking uphill towards Prague Castle was worth the effort. Once we got closer to the Castle- this was our view. Amazing. Definitely one of my top 5 favorite views since I have been in Europe.

We could see everything from up here!

Prague Castle

The remains of the oldest structure in ALL of Prague.
All that is left are a bunch of broken stones, but in it's prime this structure was a temple dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

Prague Castle's backyard
(I spy a Christmas tree!)

Changing of the guards

Prague Castle Cathedral
WOW

The perks of visiting in the late afternoon.
The sun reflected off of the stain glass windows & created these beautiful lights.

On the balcony of Lobcowicz Palace with Prince Lobcowicz!
William was nice enough to take us around the Palace on a private tour & fill us in on everything about his family's history. He showed us some amazing things-his families gun collection, letters from Beethoven to his great grandfather, amazing paintings of many of his past relatives, and so much more.  Unfortunately, we could not take pictures inside.

But at least we got a few outside!

On the walk back towards the hostel we passed a vineyard or two. So pretty!

John Lennon Wall

The John Lennon Wall - Definitely a tourist classic. Before arriving in Prague this was one place that I knew I wanted to stop by. But I never imagined actually contributing to the wall. And thanks to our tour guide, Veronica & her supply of spray cans we got to write whatever our hearts desired.

If you look closely at some of the messages written on the wall you may notice a common theme. Inspiration. Most people come to the wall and write a Bible passage or a famous quote.

But my sister and I on the other hand...

..wrote "go dawgs."
(Which I still believe is pretty inspirational)

And I think I should mention that a couple of days later, UGA beat Florida. Coincidence?

For Veronica's boyfriend. Awww

Happy 21st Birthday!

Prague: Day 1

Although the weather in Prague was not spectacular during our two day visit, all of the sights we got to see made up for it. I take a lot of picture wherever I go, but I definitely set a record while in Prague.

First stop- Old Town Square!

The Astronomical Clock
According to our tour guide, this clock is "their pride and joy" And, honestly, I have a hard time understanding why.

It's very pretty & everything...

Every hour 12 apostles can be seen through these two openings at the top of the tower. And for the finale a man in a funny outfit sounds a horn. (It's actually very similar to Munich's Glockenspiel)

My favorite part about Old-GREAT street food.
YUM crepes

Shocking, I know, but I did not get a crepe. Instead I went for a more traditional Czech food: the Trdelnik.

To make this traditional Czech pastry, dough is wrapped around these spokes, covered in sugar & a special almond mix and cooked over a fire.

So light & fluffy! DELISH

Apparently Prague is known for their architecture. So pretty.

Yes-there is a TGI Friday smack dab in the middle of Old Town. Kinda contradictory.

The Church of Our Lady of Victory
And inside...

Baby Jesus!
This baby Jesus is a huge deal in Prague. Everywhere you go people are selling little wax figurines, calendars, etc with this image of baby Jesus. The church even dresses this doll of baby Jesus up in different outfits for different occasions.

Entrance to Charles Bridge

And right next door- a five story club. I heard it may be fun to stop by once, but no more than that.

Foggy day in Prague!

Touch the stars, make a wish and it will come true exactly a year later.

St. John
We saw statues of him EVERYWHERE.

Where a scene of Mission Impossible was filmed

Gorgeous view

The thinnest street in the world

The Peeing statues

Paris copy cats

The Goblin that lives under the bridge

Our first day in Prague we did so much! We were going non-stop from 9:30am until dinner time. Let's just say this post doesn't even cover half of what did on day one. Soo exhausting. But of course I am so glad I waited to collapse until I got to the hostel.
